Frequently asked questions

How do I descale the Classic E24?

Descale approximately every 2 months. Remove the filter holder, empty the water tank and pour in half a bottle of Gaggia descaler; top up with fresh water to the MAX mark. Turn on the machine and dispense approximately 150 ml of water from the brew group, followed by 150 ml from the steam wand. Turn off the machine and leave the descaler to work for about 20 minutes. Repeat the dispensing and waiting steps until the tank is empty. Then rinse the tank and flush the machine with a full tank of fresh water. Never use vinegar.

How do I clean the brew group?

Do this about once a month using Gaggia Coffee Oil Remover and the blind filter (without holes). Place a quarter of a cleaning tablet in the blind filter, fit the filter holder and press the coffee button for a few seconds; the cleaning water will drain into the drip tray. Wait about 30 seconds and repeat this at least 10 times, until clean water comes out. Then rinse the filter holder and run a few cups of water through the machine without a tablet.

How do I froth milk using the steam wand?

Press the steam button and wait until the light stays on: the machine is then at steam temperature. Fill a metal jug one-third full with cold milk (whole milk froths best). Hold the steam wand just below the surface of the milk and open the steam knob; lower the jug slowly as the milk increases in volume. Close the knob before removing the jug. Then briefly release some steam and wipe the wand with a damp cloth.

Which filter should I use?

If you use freshly ground coffee, choose the standard filters. For store-bought pre-ground coffee, the Crema Perfetta filter (with a double bottom) produces a better crema. If you want to use pods, use the 1-cup filter.

Do I get a warranty on my machine?

Yes. You're buying from the official importer, so your machine is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If something is wrong, our own workshop will help you out.

Can you service or repair my machine?

Yes. We carry out maintenance and repairs in our own workshop, and we supply parts ourselves too. Contact us and we'll agree together on how to handle it.

Which coffee beans should I use?

Choose fresh beans with an espresso roast and ideally grind them just before brewing. That gives you the best crema and the fullest flavour. We're happy to advise you on beans that suit your taste.

How often should I descale my machine?

That depends on your water hardness and how often you make coffee. Follow your machine's manual and use a descaler suitable for espresso machines. Not sure? Just ask us.

I can't decide between two machines. Can you help?

Certainly. Our espresso specialists are happy to help: what do you drink most, how many cups a day and how much do you want to do yourself? Then you can be sure you're choosing the right machine.
